The World's First Granite Temple is the Brihadeswara Temple at Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The shikhara of the temple is made from a single 80-tonne piece of granite. This magnificent temple was built in just five years, (between 1004 AD and 1009 AD) during the reign of Rajaraja Chola.

Well the southernmost point in INDIA immediately brings before our eyes the political map of our nation and the point will be Kanyakuramari !!!!! Am not well sure that how many of us really knew that it is INDIRA POINT and not kanyakumari!!!!! I was ignorant about this all these days and i wanted people around me to know the fact!!!! If u r aware of this plz ignore if not let urselves know it!!!!

Indira Point is situated on the island of Great Nicobar in the Nicobar Islands, eastern Indian Ocean, and it represents the southernmost point of land in the territory of India. The point is located in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is named in honour of Indira Gandhi. Although Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of the mainland of the Indian subcontinent itself, Indira Point was the farthest south on Indian soil until the tsunami generated by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake inundated much of its area, partly submerging the lighthouse. However, geologists have stated that the sea is slowly starting to retreat back to its original position.
